Jose Mourinho thinks the difference between Borussia
Dortmund and Manchester United in Friday's International
Champions Cup encounter was akin to the gulf in quality in
Formula One and Formula Three .
The Portuguese was handed his first loss as United manager
as the Red Devils were thrashed 4-1 by a clinical Dortmund
side in a difficult evening in Shanghai.
Dortmund had played four matches already in pre-season and
the difference in energy and efficiency was notable as two
goals for Gonzalo Castro , a penalty from Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele 's fine solo effort put
United to the sword. Henrikh Mkhitaryan 's goal against his
former club rendered a mere side note.
But Mourinho refused to put too much emphasis on the result
of the match, pointing to the fact United still have eight
players unavailable due to their Euro 2016 commitments.
Using a quirky motorsport reference to explain the difference
with Dortmund, Mourinho said: " I don't think I can analyse
them [the players] with such difference in preparation. It was
like F1 against F3.
"They are much sharper, so it is difficult to judge. The quality
and mentality and personality is there.
"[It's been] 10 days of work. People are really tired, we played
against high-quality opposition. It is unfair to make any
decision. Day by day they are starting to win my trust.
" The reality is even in this situation we have six players still in
Europe, plus [Wayne] Rooney and [Chris] Smalling who are
only training.
"That is eight not involved. Obviously some are not going to
stay in the squad and it will be different than it is at the
moment."
He added: " My thoughts are simple. I know in pre-season the
team in the advanced stage of preparation looks better. It
happens year after year.
"It was too obvious. We knew after 10 minutes that one team
started training a month ago and played four games.
"In the second half it was better. I think 3-2 was more natural
than 4-1. They showed good quality and are at an advanced
stage."

Paris Saint-Germain for Edinson Cavani,

The Uruguay international remains keen to leave
Parc des Princes, despite the departure of Zlatan
Ibrahimovic, and is seeking a new challenge.
Antonio Conte is keen to land Cavani and made
the offer, following Atletico's Madrid's approach
for Diego Costa. However, PSG want at least
€80m for the 29-year-old which is expected to

Turkey's deputy prime minister has described as
"the tip of the iceberg" the infiltration of state
institutions by the group the government blames
for last Friday's failed coup.
Nurettin Canikli told the BBC that the number of
arrests could grow.
At least 60,000 state employees have been
detained or suspended in an internationally
criticised purge.
But Mr Canikli criticised Turkey's allies for "only
half-heartedly" condemning the "coup-makers".
The government accuses those loyal to the US-
based exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen of
orchestrating the coup. Mr Gulen has denied any
involvement.
"For 40 years this terror organisation has
infiltrated the furthest corners of the country -
ministries, all institutions and the private sector,"
Mr Canikli said.
"It's not just the judiciary, courts, the police, the
military. It includes education. And in fact,
education is the field that they have entered
best," he said.
Education ministry officials, private school
teachers and university heads of faculty together
account for more than half the people targeted in
the crackdown.
On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip
Erdogan declared a state of emergency for three
months following the coup.
The state of emergency allows the president and
cabinet to bypass parliament when drafting new
laws and to restrict or suspend rights and
freedoms.
The move has drawn criticism from leaders in
France and Germany, as well as from top EU
officials. Turkey has applied to join the bloc, but
talks over its membership have been making very
slow progress.
Mr Canikli defended the post-coup measures,
saying they were only targeting people who had
been "100% identified".
He described the "terrorist" group behind the coup
as a greater threat to Turkey than the so-called
Islamic State militants or the Kurdish militant
group, PKK.
Members of the group, he said, had "practically
had their brains removed".
"They've been hypnotised. They're like robots.
Each one of them is a potential threat. They could
commit all sorts of attacks, including suicide
bombs."
Critics of Mr Erdogan have accused him of
consolidating power on a scale largely
unprecedented since Turkey's first democratic
elections in 1946 and of using the state of
emergency to acquire more power for the
presidency.
Any club interested in the acquisition of Manchester City talent
Kelechi Iheanacho will have to cough up £20 m
(approximately N7.68b) before they can land his signature.
Soccerex recently rated the Nigerian striker as the ninth most
valuable U21 player in the world , valuing him in the region of
17 million pounds, while he is valued at five million euros by
the experts at Transfermarkt, but these two figures cannot
meet his asking price.
“When Kelechi Iheanacho signed a contract with Manchester
City, there was no release clause inserted into the deal
because City saw him as a “minor” and didn’t know his true
value, “ a top source said.
“But when he started playing and contract negotiations
started, Man City wanted to embed 20 million pounds into the
new contract.
“Manchester City have no plans to sell Iheanacho for now, so
the amount is only symbolic. “
In the 2015-2016 season, Bournemouth, Sunderland and West
Ham had approached the Citizens regarding the signing of
Kelechi Iheanacho on loan but the Etihad outfit refused to do
business.
The 19-year-old is tied to Manchester City until June 30,
2019.
