Fayose reacts to Mimiko's statement on restructuring Nigeria

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has said that Nigerian truly needs restructuring– Fayose says contrary to what Tambuwal and Mimiko think, Nigeria needs restructuring to operate true federalism–
The charismatic governor said every Nigerians will not have a sense of belonging if the nation is not restructured– Governor Mimiko says he was misinterpreted over the subject of restructuring NigeriaGovernor Fayose has insisted that the only way forward for the country was restructuring, stressing that only this action could guarantee true federalism in Nigeria.Governor Ayodele Fayose says Nigeria must be properly restructured before the people can have a sense of belonging.Fayose was reacting to the submission by Sokoto state governor, Amuni Tambuwal and his Ondo state counterpart, Olusegun Mimiko that the continuous calls by members of various groups for the restructuring of the country along regional lines as recommended by the 2014 National Conference was not the best way out.FFK reveals (LIST)Fayose in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, on Wednesday said:“We believe in restructuring that will bring about true federalism.”“If we all are to have a sense of belonging, and if we should believe in this country called Nigeria, there must be restructuring to eliminate all fears beingexpressed and insecurity threatening the existence of this country.“All the contentious issues need to be addressed under restructuring.”Meanwhile, the Ondo state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has restated his firm belief in the restructuring of the country even as he submitted that he was misrepresented in a newspaper report published on Thursday over the same subject. The Commissioner for Information, was quoted as having said Governor Mimiko was comfortable with fiscal restructuring alone.Governor Mimiko in a statement by Kayode Akinmade, the commissioner for information, said his comment on the position of his Sokoto state counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal, was limited to fiscal federalism.“Fiscal restructuring is part of the holistic restructuring of Nigeria which includes fiscal and political adjustment. The fact that one welcomes what looks like a shift in position as enunciated by Governor AminuTambuwal does not connote a repudiation of the need for total restructuring.“For example, the iniquity visited on the nation by arbitrary and unfair creation of Local Government Areas must be revisited as part of the readjustment of the structure of the federation. Other critical areas include, the relationship between the federal government and the states, zones or regions as the case may be; that is, what in the opinion of Nigerians, should be the federating units.“These and many other issues were addressed at the 2014 confab and it has always been my opinion that opening up all these issues for discussion and consensus, is the only way to curtail the centrifugal forces tending to tear thiscountry apart,”Mimiko said.In a similar vein, the revenue allocation formula should be restructured to ensure federating units get more allocation than the centre, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has advocated.“There’s urgent need to review the allocation formula in the country because doing so will strenghten the Nigerian federation and help to shed off some of the excess powers the Federal Government currently has,”the Governor said in Sokoto Wednesday when hosted various groups who paid him a sallah homage. The groups include the Sokoto Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Association of Resident Communities, Sokoto Women Association and a Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations, among others.Tambuwal added that the states and local government areas deserve more allocation because they shoulder overwhelming responsibilities of the citizens of the country.According to him, states and thelocal governments are the closest tiers of government to the people, but they are getting less than the federal government’s allocation from the federation account
