Army explains why it invaded Jonathan's cousin firm

igerian army has clarified why soldiers invaded the premises of Kakarta Civil Engineering Limited, owned by Robert Azibaola– Azibaola, who is a cousin to ex-president Jonathan, was earlier charged of supposed diversion of $40 billion and was in June arraigned– The troops took over the premises of his company on September 3, SaturdayThe Nigerian military’s spokesman Colonel Sani Usman has clarified why thesoldiers of Army Headquarters Garrison, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, invaded the premises of a companybelonging to Robert Azibaola.Usman was speaking with Punch reporters that the land in question belonged to the Army.READ ALSO: Falana cautions Buhari over alleged military attack on AzibaolaHe said the military decided to take over the belongings because the service did not want any further invasion on the property.Army’s spokesman underlined that the Nigerian military would not tolerate any raid on its land.He said:“The said property is on Nigerian army’s land and the army will not allow anybody to encroach on its land.“Consequently, the property has to be sealed to prevent further encroachment.”However, a Lagos-based lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), on September 4, Sunday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to warn the Nigerian army against supposed arbitrary use of its powers and brute force on innocent citizens.The lawyer made this call in a comment following invasion of the premises ofKakarta Civil Engineering Limited on Saturday.READ ALSO: Dasukigate: Jonathan’s cousin, Robert paid $40mFalanaaccused the army of taking possession of the property, owned by Azibaola, without a court order.The company shares a boundary with the Luigi Barracks of the Nigerian army.
